Improvements to irrigation and drainage defenses.
In 2013, US$800,000 was invested in a project under the responsibility of Fernando Daniel, which included:
The construction of a polder parallel to the coast of the Queguay River that allowed some 500 hectares of the field to be protected from flooding up to level 7 Puerto Paysandú. This year work will begin to bring it to 10 meters.
The construction of terraces and canals improved the drainage conditions of the field, in addition to the installation of an axial flow hydraulic pump at the lowest point of the system with a delivery capacity of 1,100 liters per second. (Manufactured by Falmetal S.A.)
The construction of a capillary irrigation system consisting of a pumping station that lifts water from the Queguay River and discharges it into a central valve built on the watershed starting at 9.33 meters above sea level. From there, irrigation water is conveyed to the peripheral canals (loan) that have dominion over the lots and in turn feeds secondary canals. The pumping station operates with a PIVAS portable tract pump. The irrigation system is currently in disuse by the lessee.
